A local leader of ruling Awami League has been run over by a train at Harashpur station of Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj.
Deceased Morshed Kamal Talukder, 35, ex-organising secretary of Lakhai upazila Awami League, was also a former chairman of Bula union parishad.
Madhabpur police station Officer-in-Charge said Morshed Kamal was going Dhaka by Kalni Express around 10:30am on Sunday.
"He got down of the train at Harashpur station to buy water. He was run over by Sylhet-bound Porabat Express while returning to his train," said the OC.
The body was on the spot till filling of the report at 1pm.
