A class ten school girl has committed suicide by hanging herself in Chittagong city’s Prabartak area.
The deceased was identified as Pinky Dash, 15, student of Prabartak Songho Chittagong Bangladesh run by ISCKON, a Hindu monastery in Chittagong, said Sub-Inspector Md Idris Mia of Panchlish police Station.
The girl hailed from Noapara of Raozan upazila and used to live at the monastery beside the school, said SI Idris.
The SI said the girl hanged herself from the ceiling with her scarf inside the classroom sometimes after the midday.
Being informed police recovered the hanging body from the spot and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy.
"We recovered a letter from the spot. It is suspected that the girl might have committed suicide from depression over her family’s financial problem," said the SI.
