Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay will arrive today on a three-day official visit at the invitation of his Bangladesh counterpart Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
An aircraft of Royal Bhutanese Airlines “Drukair” carrying the Bhutanese premier and the members of his entourage is scheduled to land at Shahjalal International Airport at 9am.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will receive the guest at the VVIP Tarmac of the airport, according to Prime Minister’s Office sources.
It would be Tshering’s maiden visit to Bangladesh after taking office as the prime minister of Bhutan in July last year. The Bhutanese PM will lead a 10-member high-profile team of ministers and be accompanied by a business delegation during the visit.
Tshering will hold different bilateral talks with the prime minister including power and hydro-electricity management, agriculture, trade and business, health, education and connectivity.
There is a possibility of renewal of the existing bilateral trade agreement between Bangladesh and Bhutan during the visit, said Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali.
During his stay in Dhaka, the Bhutanese prime minister will also meet President Abdul Hamid, leader of the Opposition in Parliament Begum Rawshan Ershad and a number of cabinet members. He will leave Dhaka on December 8.
