Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed yesterday said Germany will turn into Bangladesh’s number one export market in the days to come.
“At this moment, Germany is the second largest export market for Bangladesh. In future, it will turn number one export market for us,” he told journalists after a meeting with a German trade delegation at his Secretariat office.
State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Jorg Asmussen led the delegation.
The commerce minister said Germany is pleased over Bangladesh’s economic development and the country expressed willingness to extend bilateral ties on all fronts, reports UNB.
Bangladesh is working to increase the number of exportable goods apart from finding new export destinations, he added.
Tofail also shared with the delegation the progress made in the country’s readymade garment industry after the Rana Plaza disaster.
