Update : 04 Dec 2014, 08:13 AM

The body of Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin has been exhumed for her fresh postmortem, after 20 days of her death.

Police exhumed the body of Dr Shamarukh, wife of ex-MP Tipu Sultan’s son Humayun Sultan, in presence of Jessore Additional Deputy Commissioner Sohel Hasan, Shamarukh's father Engineer Nurul Islam and Investigation Officer of the case ASP Munshi Ruhul Kuddus around 10am on Thursday.

Executive Magistrate Abdus Salam said Dr Shamarukh's body was sent to Jessore 250-Bed Hospital for fresh autopsy.

Hospital sources said the first autopsy would be conducted at Jessore Medical College Hospital after collecting forensic samples. Then separate postmortems would be conducted at Sir Salimullah Medical College and Khulna Medical College Hospital.

On November 25, a Dhaka court ordered to exhume the body of Dr Shamarukh Mahjabin for her fresh postmortem.

Dr Shamaruf Mahzabin Kona, Humayun's 24-year old wife, was apparently found hanging in the bathroom of her in-law’s Dhanmondi house on November 13.

Her father, Nurul Islam, filed a murder case against Humayun and also implicated the former lawmaker of Jessore Khan Tipu Sultan and his wife.
