A complaint has been filed against three policemen including an assistant Sub Inspector with a Dhaka court for their alleged extortion.
A pick-up driver, Md Solaiman Sheikh, filed the complaint with the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh on Thursday morning.
The accused policemen are ASI Majnu of Shahjahanpur police station and Constables Rabiul and Anjan Ansar of Paltan police station.
All the police members were posted at Khilgaon police station at the time of the incident.
Morshed Hossain Shahin, the lawyer of the plaintiff, told the Dhaka Tribune: “The accused policemen beat up Alamin, the helper of the pick-up van, handcuffed him and extorted TK6,000 from Solaiman at Meradiya Sipahibagh rice market on May 5.”
“Later, they released Alamin when the vehicle's owner Shafiullah showed the documents of the vehicle.”
The lawyer said the court would pass the order in this regard later.
