Train communications on the Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes have been resumed after three hours.
Deputy Assistant Engineer of Laksam Noor Mohammad said the rail link was restored around 12:45pm.
The rail communications on these routes were suspended from Thursday morning following the derailment of a train near Jangalia area under the Sadar upazila.
Four wheels of a bogie of the Chittagong-bound Jalalabad Express from Sylhet veered off the tracks at Jangalia around 9:10am.
The accident snapped the train communications on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes.
Dhaka-bound ‘Mahanagar Probhati Express’ from Chittagong got stranded at Laksam following the derailment.
A rescue train from Laksam reached Jangalia around 11am and started the salvage operation, said the official.
