The apex court has set the date for commencing the appeal hearing of death-sentenced Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammed Mujaheed.
The five-member appellate bench of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain, set January 14, 2015, as the date to begin the hearing of the convicted war criminal.
The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court fixed the hearing date on Wednesday morning.
On July 17 last year, International Crimes Tribunal 2 awarded the death penalty for Jamaat leader Mujaheed for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
He received death penalties in two cases - filed for abetting and facilitating killing of intellectuals during the Liberation War and participating in and facilitating the murder of nine Hindu civilians in Faridpur.
On August 11 last year, condemned prisoner Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid filed an appeal with the Appellate Division against his capital punishment.
