Convicted for crimes against humanity, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee was again taken to BSMMU for medical check-ups yesterday as he complained of waist and knee pains to Dhaka Central Jail authorities.
Prison guards took him to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University around 10:30am and back to jail around 1:30pm after a health check at the orthopaedic department, Farman Ali, a senior jail superintendent, said.
Doctors conducted some examinations and gave him medicine.
The 74-year-old Jamaat leader was shifted to Dhaka from Kashimpur High Security Jail in Gazipur early Monday after he complained of chest pain.
Doctors at BSMMU treated him and confirmed to jail authorities that Sayedee’s condition was not serious. They prescribed some medicines and advised him to take rest.
The prison authorities are expected to send him to Kashimpur Jail soon.
