A fire has gutted 14 shanties in Bahaddarhat area in Chittagong city.
The fire broke out around 7pm on Tuesday.
Fire Brigade sources said no casualty has been reported in this incident.
Abdul Malek, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters in Agrabad, said: “The fire originated from an electric shot circuit at a furniture shop and soon engulfed the other adjacent houses.”
“On information, the units from Agrabad, Kalurghat and Lama Bazar fire station went to the spot and doused the blaze after a frantic effort of an hour,” he said.
The loss caused by the fire could not be estimated immediately, he added.
