Deepika Padukone learns Bangla for Piku

Update : 23 Nov 2014, 06:31 PM

After learning Tamil for “Chennai Express” last year, and flaunting a Maharashtrian accent for “Happy New Year,” recently, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is now learning Bangla for her next film, “Piku.” The film is based in Kolkata.

A source from the sets revealed that the 28-year-old has not only been doing workshops with the film’s director Shoojit Sircar, who happens to be a Bangalee, but she also took help from veteran actor Moushumi Chatterjee. “During the recent Kolkata shooting schedule, Deepika sat down with Moushumi on the sets amid shots and learnt some Bangla pronunciations,” says the source.

Confirming the same, Deepika says, “I’ve played a Tamilian, a Maharashtrian, a Gujrati in ‘Ram Leela,’ a Goan in ‘Finding Fanny,’ and now I’m playing a Bangalee. It’s always fun to learn a new language, as it’s a different learning experience. Bangla is a soft and lovely language. I’m enjoying the experience.”

The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan.
