Local activists of Susasoner Janno Nagorik formed human chain and rally in the district town yesterday protesting the government’s move to increase the gas price across the country from January 1 next year.
Sources said the commoners also joined the programme started in the morning on Bhola Sadar road expressing solidarity with the demand.
During speech, the leaders blamed vested quarters for gobbling up the sector and the people have been forced to carry its consequence.
Later, the leaders termed the move wholly unacceptable and they urged upon the government to retreat from the decision.
