Shaila Tasmeen to perform at IGCC

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) will organise a programme on classical music at the IGCC in the capital’s Gulshan-1 6:30pm today.

 Shaila Tasmeen will perform at the programme.

Born in Rajshahi, Shaila Tasmeen got inspiration to learn music from her family members, especially from her elder sister,  Ireen Parveen.

She is a vocalist of Hindustani classical, semi classical music and Tagore songs.

Tasmeen initiated her music training under several Gurus – Onup Kumar Das, Late Abul Aziz Bacchu, Late Ostad Rabiul Hossain,  Sadi Mohammad Takiullah Deshai Shubda, and Pandit Tusar Dutta.

A talented singer, Shaila Tasmeen has performed at many conferences and programmes on classical music. The conferences and programmes include  “Sadarang” classical conference in Chittagong, “Lokkhayapar” classical conference in Narayanganj, Suddho Songit Prosar Gosthi, Chhayyanaut and Dhaka Shilpakala Academy.

 Tasmeen has released two new albums from Kolkata “Bihan Music” and “Bare Bare Firale.”

Now she is working as an assistant professor in the Department of Music at Rajshahi University.
