One killed in BCL factional clash at SUST

A student of a private university has been killed and at least seven people have been injured in a factional clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) unit over establishing supremacy on the campus.

Dr Abdus Salam, assistant director MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet confirmed about the death to the Dhaka Tribune.

SUST closed for indefinite period

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) authorities have declared the university closed for indefinite period, following the BCL factional clash that left one killed and seven injured.

The decision was taken at an emergency syndicate meeting of the university on Thursday afternoon.

The US Senate has confirmed the nomination of Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat as the next US ambassador to Bangladesh.

The nomination was confirmed by voice vote on November 19, according to the US Senate.

A Swechchhasebak League leader has been stabbed to death by miscreants at Sonadorgara under Lalpur upazila in Natore.

The deceased is Ashraful Islam, 45, son of late Foyez Mondol of Boro Beelshalia village and religious affairs secretary of Lalpur upazila's Swechchhasebak League unit.

Five foreigners arrested

At least five foreign nationals were detained from Dhaka and Chittagong yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, the Rapid Action Battalion-1 arrested three foreigners from house-7 on road-8 of sector-10 of the capital’s Uttara.
