Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has put emphasis on more practice of culture to meet the hunger of the mind.
The premier made the statement while addressing the senior officials of the Cultural Affairs Ministry at the secretariat on Thursday morning.
"It is not wise to give importance to only fulfilling the belly. We will also have to give importance to meet the hunger of mind. So it is necessary to practice of more culture to meet the hunger of mind," she said.
She, however, cautioned that alien culture cannot grip the country's own culture.
"It is reality that practice of culture and literature provide entertainment to the mind. But we will have to be careful so that the alien culture cannot grasp our own culture," she said.
Highlighting her government's different steps to further flourish the culture, the prime minister said the government has ensured food security of the people by increasing the production.
"By the grace of the Almighty, there is no crisis of food at present. Now we have given attention to provide entertainment to the mind of the people meaning giving importance to the practice of culture," she said.
The prime minister said the aim of her government is to highlight the country's identity and entity before the world people.
"That is why we have given importance to flourishing of culture which keeps the existence of the nation and grows the roots," she said.
