Tk853.68 crore project okayed for power supply in capital

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved Ashuganj-Bhulta transmission line project involving Tk853.68 crore for sufficient power supply in the capital Dhaka.

The approval came at the ECNEC meeting at the NEC conference room in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Tuesday.

After the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal made the disclosure to the journalists, reports BSS.

The 400 KV transmission line will supply power through Rampura 230/132 KV power sub-station, Kamal said.

The minister informed that Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Limited (PGCB) will implement the "Ashuganj-Bhulta 400 KV Transmission Line Project" by June 2017.

Under the project, there will be a 70 kilometer Ashuganj-Bhulta 400 KV dual circuit transmission line, Bhulta Haripur-Rampura 230 KV dual circuit line-in and line-out of 3 kilometer, Bhulta Ghorashal-Rampura 230 KV dual circuit line-in and line-out of 1 kilometer and construction of a Bhulta (Narayanganj) 400/230 KV, 2x250 MVA AIS substation construction.

Of the total cost, the government will give Tk637.85 crore from the state exchequer while PGCB will provide Tk215.82 crore from its own fund for the transmission line project, Kamal told the reporters.

He said the government has a plan to set up 800 KV transmission line there in future.
