Three police personnel including an officer-in-charge have been injured in a clash with an inter-district robbers’ gang at Sanabou village under Shaistaganj upazila in the district.
The injured policemen are Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Nazim Uddin, Inspector Iqbal and constable Yasin of Habiganj Sadar police station.
Police arrested two bullet-hit robbers from the spot.
The arrestees are Farid Miah, 30, son of Tajul Islam and Noman Miah, 25, son of Idu Miah, of the area.
Injured OC Nazim said: “Acting on a tip-off, a police team was conducting a drive in the area against some inter-district robbers’ gang early Sunday.”
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers attacked the policemen with lethal weapons. Police also fired four rounds of rubber bullets in defense that triggered a clash, leaving three police members injured, he said.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Habiganj Sadar Hospital, the police official added.
