“Life is Her,” the solo painting exhibition of Kanak Chanpa Chakma was inaugurated yesterday at capital’s Bengal Art Lounge. With her signature style of portraying daily life activities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Kanak brings “Life is Her” to art enthusiasts after two years of sincere efforts. The artist dedicates this set of work to the Chakmas, the community which she belongs to.
Women dominate her canvases. They are seen carrying baskets or dreaming by the pond, generating a sense of both strength and grace.
Hanne Fugl Eskjaer, Ambassador, Royal Danish Embassy, Shiro Sadoshima, Ambassador, Embassy of Japan and artist Hashem Khan graced the event. The exhibition will continue until December 6.
