A three-day hardware hackathon styled “Make-A-Thon”, first of its kind in the country, begins in the city on Tuesday with an aim to generate new ideas of technologies and devices.
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and Better Stories, an idea agency, are going to jointly organise the event, speakers said at a press conference at the BASIS auditorium in the capital yesterday.
The event is to introduce an initiative to make life easy for the technology users. Anyone could participate in the event and solve problems at the exhibition to be held at EMK Cente in Dhanmondi.

The event will be followed by competition on idea generations, workshops, seminars, and training sessions, which will continue till November 20, said the organisers.
Menhaz Anwar of Better Stories said: “For the first time, this type of event is going to be held with an aim to reduce the load and make it easy for peoples’ daily life.”
Three winners of this program will attend an international hardware Hack-a-Thon in January 2015, which is scheduled to be held at Ahmedabad, India.
The organisers hinted that they had a plan to organise this exhibition every three-month though they are organising the event for the first time in the country.
The press conference was attended, among others, by Sami Ahmed, the executive director of BASIS and Mahmudul Hasan Sohag, chairman of OnnoRokom Group of Companies.
