Transport workers call 24-hour strike in Chittagong

Bangladesh Road Transport Workers' Federation has called a 24-hour transport strike in greater Chittagong to realise their five-point demand.

The strike will being at 6am, Sunday and end at 6am, Monday.

Mrinal Chowdhury, president of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers' Federation (East zone), confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune about the strike.

He said: "We gave an ultimatum to the administration to realise our demands during a convention of the federation on October 25. As our demands are not met, we called the strike."

 

Their five-point demands include ending BRTA and police harrassment on the transport workers, construction of proposed inter-district terminals and issuing appointment letters to the transport workers.
