Chittagong rail service resumes

The railway communication of Chittagong with other parts of the country has been resumed after a four-hour halt on Wednesday afternoon.

Divisional Traffic Officer(East Zone) Firoz Eftekhar confirmed the news to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said: "The rail service has been resumed around 2pm."

Earlier in the day, the rail service collapsed as three bogies of a wagon got derailed at Fouzdarhat railway station in Chittagong on Wednesday morning.

Station Manager Abul Kalam Azad said no scheduled train could leave the station during the derailment.

"A rescue team came from Chittagong city and conduted the rescue operation."

However, the railway authorities are yet to detect the reason behind the incident.
