Tête-à-tête with Lux Superstar Nadia

Update : 11 Nov 2014, 08:29 PM

Nadia Afrin won the coveted title of Lux Channel i Superstar 2014, which ended recently, outshining four other finalists and thousands of others scouted across the country. In a conversation with the Dhaka Tribune, the new face of Lux spills the beans about her life after winning the title, future aspirations and much more.

How does it feel to have won the competition?

It has started to sink in. I could not believe my ears when the crown was put on my head, but now I have started believing it. I cannot express what I felt in that moment in words.

How has winning the crown changed your life?

The biggest change is how everyone around me react and respond to me. Before the competition, I was a simple girl, but now I am a superstar. But I also realise that, thought it is my biggest achievement yet, it brings some new responsibilities as well.

Your parents must have been quite supportive.

Yes. Actually it was my mother’s dream to see me as a model and actor. She always encouraged and supported me for this competition. She is the biggest source of my confidence. As for my father, at first he seemed as though he did not like it, but later his reaction to my winning the competition proved me wrong.

What are your future aspirations?

I look forward to devoting myself in the Lux commercials, which I am supposed to do, with good performance. I want to progress in my career with good modelling and acting jobs.

Any plans on stepping into Dhallywood?

Not yet.

How do you define beauty?

Beauty lies in the eyes of a person. I think it is a matter of perception. It depends on how a person demonstrate him- or herself.

What is your beauty mantra?

Things kept simple and natural are the best. I am not on a diet yet, nor do I follow any special skin care regimen. I always believe in simplicity.

Born and raised in the capital, Nadia recently completed her higher secondary studies from SOS Hermann Gmeiner College in Dhaka. She aims to pursue her undergraduate studies in business administration.
