Thousands of commuters have been facing scarcity of public transports in the capital city due to the ongoing combined drive started Monday by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Home Ministry and Road Transports and Bridges Ministry.
Like Monday, passengers were seen struggling to catch buses or human haulers at the public transports’ stoppages.
In one point near Engineering Institute of Dhaka, executive magistrate Tarique of Dhaka district filed some 16 cases and fined offenders Tk13,300 so far.
Another mobile court led by magistrate Sarowar is conducting a drive in Jatrabari area of the capital.
Bijoy Bhushan Paul, BRTA director (enforcement), said the BRTA enforcement department filed 2,249 cases and imposed fine of Tk16,71,410 and 21 offenders were sent to jail and 65 cars having no fitness were already dumped countrywide till now from the day it began.
A mobile team is also conducting another drive near the golf club area in the capital.
