Oil-lorry fire halts vehicular movement

An oil-loaded lorry has caught fire in front of a filling station in Natiapara area, halting the vehicular movement on Dhaka-Tangail highway.

The fire broke out at Nahiyan Filling Station around 7am on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the vehicular movement on the highway was halted for two hours due the incident.

Tangail Fire Service Deputy Director Abu Jafar said: “The fire originated when a bus hit a oil-laden lorry parked in front of the filling station in the morning. Soon the fire engulfed the bus, a covered van and a motorcycle."

“Six units of the fire service doused the blaze after four hours of frantic effort,” he said.
