Ali Jacko to inspect local boxers today

Update : 08 Nov 2014, 08:12 PM

Former world lightweight kickboxing champion Ali Jacko will conduct a trial among Bangladeshi boxers that might enable them to enter the professional circuit. The trial will take place at Mohammad Ali Boxing Stadium today.

The Bangladesh Boxing Federation confirmed that the United Kingdom-based former kick-boxing star will be scrutinising the local boxers for the boxing circuit and not for kickboxing. The federation will present to Jacko around 50 top boxers of the country in all weight categories. The selection will totally depend on Jacko. The selected boxers will get the opportunity to avail training in the UK.

On May 26, 1996, Jacko defeated Frederic Pierre to win the WKO World Lightweight Kickboxing title at the Island in Ilford. In June 2000, Ali clinched his second World Lightweight Kickboxing crown, this time in the World Kickboxing Network belt.

Abdul Kuddus Khan, the general secretary of the boxing federation expressed his hope that a number of local boxers will impress Jacko. Walton agreed to assist the whole programme.
