A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) official has been beaten to death by local smugglers near Lakshmidari border area in Satkhira.
The deceased is Nazrul Islam, company commander subadar of BGB Vomra camp, said BGB 38 Battalion Commander Major Najir Ahmed.
Najir Ahmed said: “A gang of smugglers beat him mercilessly while Nazrul was patrolling the area around 8am on Thursday.”
He said: “The duty doctor declared Nazrul dead when he was rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospita.”
However, Najir denied making further comments regarding the cause of his death.
BGB personnel also arrested two persons named Palash and Rony from the area in this connection.
The preparation of the primary investigation of Nazrul is being underway, added Najir Ahmed.
