The order expelling Naogaon 3 lawmaker Md Salim Uddin Tarafder from the Awami League (AL) was cancelled almost 11 months later.
Salim was the organising secretary of Mahadebpur unit.
President of Naogaon district AL unit Advocate Fazle Rabbi Baku nullified the order and wrote to Mahadebpur unit on Tuesday night to reinstate him.
The decision to reinstate the lawmaker was taken in response to a petition by Salim, said Rabbi. Local activists in his constituency distributed sweets yesterday to celebrate Salim’s reinstatement.
Failing to be nominated by the Awami League to contest the January 5 parliamentary elections from the Naogaon 3 constituency, Salim ran for office as an independent candidate and claimed victory.
He was then expelled for defying the order of the party which asked him not to do so.
