The Facebook account of Gonojagoron Moncho spokesperson Imran H Sarker has been blocked because of a large number of reports against it.
Blogger and Online Activist Network (BOAN) posted a status about this around 6pm on Wednesday.
The status read: The Facebook account of Dr Imran H Sarker, the spokesperson of Gonojagoron Moncho, has been blocked because of reports against it. All are being informed that many fake accounts have been created in his name.”
If users repeatedly report against a certain account, Facebook temporarily blocks that account, according the social media site's rules and regulations.
Imran H Sarker was astonished that he lost his personal Facebook account that has 176,000 followers.
With emotion in his voice, he told the Dhaka Tribune that this was the account that he used when he was forming the Shahbagh Gonojagoron Moncho.
He shared his ideas, views and the decisions of the Moncho on the account.
He was surprised that Facebook's decision was taken without informing him. Now he is operating his previous account.
Although his Facebook account has been disabled, his verified Facebook page is accessible. The page has over 226,400 followers.
