A total of 120 intellectually disabled and autistic children will participate in the event that will feature three disciplines – table tennis, badminton and bouchi.

Among the participants who took part in the last edition of the Special Olympics, SWID has provided around 95 percent of the athletes that brought laurels for the country.

SWID president Jawaherul Islam Mamun thanked Walton for the support. “We have been arranging athletic events for a long time but we were not able to host a national level indoor games. With the support of Walton we have managed to host it. We emphasise on sports a lot as it helps the intellectually disabled children to cope with the atmosphere of life,” said Mamun yesterday.

The SWID president said they have requested the government for the construction of a full-fledged  complex in their headquarters and sought their assistance regarding the issue.

Walton executive director SM Zahid Hasan and additional director FM Iqbal bin Anwar Dawn pledged support for the organisation yesterday in a press conference. SWID general secretary Hemayetuddin Ahmed and senior games and cultural officer Al Asadur Rashid were also present on the occasion.
