By-polls to various vacant posts of 65 Union Parishads across 35 districts of the country will be held on November 18.
Besides, by-elections in three more Union Parishads of Rangpur district will be held on November 20, reports UNB.
The 68 vacant Union Parishad posts include nine chairmen, 49 general members and ten reserved member posts (exclusively reserved for women), according to sources at the Election Commission.
The EC declared the by-election schedule for the union parishads in early October, said its assistant secretary M Ashfaqur Rahman.
The nine Union Parishads going to the by-polls to elect chairmen are Gangachara Union of Gangachara Upazila and Pirgacha of Pirgacha in Rangpur, Domar Union of Domar in Nilphamari, Char Astodhar of Nakla in Sherpur, Charamkhaoya of Dewanganj in Jamalpur, Karihata of Kapasia of Gazipur, Sonailtola of Mongla of Bagerhat, Narayanpur of Chaugachha of Jessore, and Belchari of Matiranga of Khagrachhari.
The elections will be held with the updated voter list of the 10th parliamentary polls.
