A fire has broken out at a steel re-rolling mill at Maijjartek area under Karnaphuli police station in Chittagong city on Thursday morning.
Md Yahiya, assistant director (AD) of Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters in Agrabad, said: “Ehsan Steel and Re-Rolling Mills caught fire around 7:30am.”
Being information, two units firefighters from Lama Bazar Fire Station of Kalurghat rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after two hours of hectic efforts, he added.
The official said the fire originated from an electric short circuit. The extent of the damage has been estimated at Tk1.15 crore.
No causality was reported in the incident, said the official.
