A person has been killed and some 50 were injured in a clash between two groups over land dispute near Baluchar area of Kashimpur union under Joydevpur police station in Gazipur City Corporation.
The deceased is Nur mohammad, security supervisor of Dulal Brothers Limited (DBL) group.
Khandoker Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Joydevpur police station told the Dhaka Tribune, employees of Keya group and DBL group locked into a clash at the area around 11am on Wednesday.
The deadly clash continued till evening leaving more than fifty employees injured, he added.
They also vendalised the opponent groups properties during the clash, the OC said.
Rezaul said on information police rushed to the spot and charged baton to bring down the situation under control.
Locals and eyewitnesses claimed that police shot three rounds of rubber bullets.
However, the OC denied the claim saying, “No rubber bullets were shot to disperse the clash.”
The companies are providing medical facilities for their injured employees, Mainul Hasan, DBL group chief security officer said.
