Two children have drowned in pond near their house at Noyani village in Barisal.
The victims are identified as Rafi, 4, son of Bazlur Rahman and his cousin Rupa, 5.
Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) sources said they went missing after going to play in their courtyard around 9am. Later, the family members recovered them from the ditch around 9:30am.
They were brought to SBMCH and attending physician Dr. Mamunur Rashid declared Rafi dead at 10:30am.
Hospital's doctor Asim Kumar Saha said they succumbed to their injuries after they were taken to the hospital.
Kotwali police station In-Charge Shakhawat Hossain said: “We have heard about the incident. We will hand over the bodies without autopsy if the family members request us.”
