BSF shoots two Bangladeshis on Thakurgaon edge

Two Bangladeshi citizens sustained bullet injuries in a firing by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on the Indo-Bangla frontier near to Rotnai area of Baliadangi upazila early yesterday.

The victims are Edris Ali, 25, son of Kalij Uddin from Taltola village, and Chaino Miah, 30, son of Dudu Miah from Borsha village of the upazila.

Sources said a patrol team of the BSF shot the du0 around 5am while they were cutting fence of barbed wire on the border to enter Indian territory.

Hearing the sound of the firing, a team from Thakurgaon 30 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion rushed to the spot and conducted a drive in search of the duo with the help of the villagers, but finally in vain.

BGB sources said they  had already sent a letter to the BSF camp protesting the shooting and urged a flag meeting to discuss the matter.
