Blast injures 3 schoolboys in Ghatail cantonment

 Three schoolboys have received severe injuries as an abandoned mortar shell went off in Maidar Chala firing range of Ghatail Saheed Salah Uddin Cantonment in Tangail on Tuesday.

The injured are Ashik,12, Tusher,12, and Raihan,13, class six students of Brahmmanshasan High School of the upazila.

Fazlul Kabir officer-in-charge of Ghatail police station said: “The boys found an abandoned mortar shell in the firing range area in the afternoon, while they were roaming around the place.”

“The mortar shell went off when they took it in their hands, leaving them injured. They were rushed to Ghatail Combined Military Hospital (CMH). The condition of Ashik and Tusher in stated to be critical.”

Earlier on February 12, two army personnel and three members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been killed as a mortar shell went off accidentally during training in the cantonment.

At least 12 more army and BGB personnel were injured in the incident.
