A pregnant woman has been strangled to death allegedly by her husband in Madhobbari area in Gazipur.
The deceased is Nazmunnahar Begun, 24, daughter of Gulam Zilani of Padma Residential area in Rajshahi.
Nazmunnahar's landlord Shamim said: “Garment worker Rafiqul Islam rented the fifth floor of the building six months ago. He was supposed to take rent somewhere else and leave the house on Tuesday.”
He said Rafiqul had a rented pickup van to transport his furniture to the new house.
Pickup helper Tanjin said they found the body of the pregnant woman from a carton that was inside a quilt around 7am on Tuesday.
Later, the locals held the husband and handed him over to the police.
Joydebpur police station Sub-Inspector Ershad said: “On information, we have arrested Rafiqul and sent the body to Gazipur sadar morgue for autopsy.”
