Seven shops have been gutted in fire at Torki Bandar of Gournadi upazila in Barisal on Sunday.
Ainul Haque, station officer of Gournadi fire service said: “The fire originated from Ajahar Bepari grocery shop at Katpatty alley in launch area of Torki Bandar around 2:40pm on Sunday.”
“The fire soon engulfed six adjacent shops and damaged valuables worth around Tk20 lakh," he added.
On information, fire fighters' of Gournadi fire service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 4:15pm with the help of local people, the official said.
Five people were injured while trying to douse the fire, he added.
