Two people have been killed and 25 others injured as a passenger bus fell into a roadside ditch in Moddhom Farazikandi area under Gozaria upazila in Munshiganj.
The deceased are Masud Rana, 18, and Khadem Ali, 23. The bodies were kept in Voberchar police outpost.
Quoting the injured people, Voberchar highway police outpost in-Charge Sergeant Md Saiful Islam said: “A Chittagong-bound passenger bus fell into a roadside ditch as the driver lost his control over the steering, leaving Rana dead on the spot and 26 others injured around 2:45am early Sunday.”
He said: “Khadem succumbed to his injuries after he was taken to Voberchar Health Complex. The others were admitted to local hospitals.”
On information, police recovered the bus in the morning. However, the driver managed to flee the scene immediately after the accident.
Preparation for lodging a case in this connection was underway, added the official.
