A rare tiger cub has been rescued by locals in Sylhet’s Kanaighat upazila.
On Wednesday, locals caught the cub when it entered a chicken coop at one Minhaj Uddin’s house in Shahpur village of the upazila and informed the matter to the Kanaighat forest bit office.
They said the cub used to attack the coop every night.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tareque Mohammed Zakaria and forest bit officer Jahirul Islam came to the village yesterday and took the cub to the bit office. Later it was released in Khadimnagar National Park in Sylhet.
In the wake of deforestation, such animals are losing their habitats, as a result, they are entering towns and creating nuisance to people, he said.
