Update : 22 Oct 2014, 10:17 PM

At least 15 people were injured in a clash between the easy bike drivers and bus staff at Charfashion bus stand in Bhola yesterday. The transport workers announced a bus strike from yesterday afternoon protesting the attack.

The auto drivers also vandalised eight buses during the clash. Nine of the injured men were admitted to Charfashion Upazila Health Complex.

Police sources said the transport workers and easy bike drivers got involved in a clash following an altercation over attracting passengers to their vehicles. Secretary of Bhola Bus Owners’ Cooperative society Abul Kalam said some easy bike drivers, led by one Kutub Jahangir, attacked the bus depot, injured workers and vandalised buses.

The bus owners’ association called strike in the district for an indefinite period of time demanding arrest of Jahangir, Abul Kalam added. Kutub could not be contacted by our correspondent till filing of this report. Mahfuzur Rahman, assistant police super of Bhola, said the situation is under control now and additional forces were deployed to the area.
