Mobile phone operator Grameenphone and popular browser Mozilla Firefox are going to jointly organise a mobile application contest titled “Firefox App Challenge.”
Winners of the competition will be rewarded money worth US$27,500 along with a chance to visit the Mozilla headquarterslocated in San Francisco, California, USA.
Dhaka-based mobile application developer firm MCC limited, also a local partner of the conference, came up with the disclosure at a press conference held yesterday at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro conference room in the capital.
To take part in the competition all the participants needs to register on www.firefoxappchallenge.com. Participants can submit proposal in five categories Services- Social, Public, Government; Entertainment, Games, News & Media and Tools & Utility, speakers told the press conference.
The press conference was addressed, among others, by Syed Talat Kamal, head of public relations of Grameenphone and deputy director of MCC Mostafa Zakir Haider.
The speakers also noted that more than hundred competitors could avail the opportunity for a higher training programme, which would ultimately lead them to become a future application leader in the industry.
“The contest will starts from October 22 to December 14, though the last date for submission his or her own-developed applications is fixed on December 4.”
According to organisers, a consolidated amount of $27,500 will be given as prize money while two prizes will be given under each categories, first prize will be $3,000 and runner-up $1,500.
Apart from that, there will be five prizes of $1,000 for the developers, who illustrate outstanding innovation or value, regardless of categories through their developed applications.
