Lakshmipur Superintendent of Jail Mahbubur Rahman and Jailer Joynal Abedin have been suspended on charges of various mismanagement inside the district jail.
Deputy Commissioner AKM Tipu Sultan confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday and said he visited the jail on Tuesday and recovered Tk25 thousand from the accused and convicts there.
Besides, proofs of use of mobile phones, irregularities in taking admissions to the jail hospital and allowing healthy persons to be admitted to the hospital for money were also found, he said.
Deputy Commissioner Tipu said Inspector General (IG) of Prisons Brig Gen Syed Iftekhar Uddin had suspended them a day after he informed the authorities of the irregularities inside the jail.
