Admission seekers submit memorandum to DU VC

Update : 21 Oct 2014, 07:25 AM

The admission seekers, who have been staging protest at Dhaka University, have submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor, demanding the restoration of the system that allowed them to appear twice in the intake test.

A seven-member team submitted the memorandum to AAMA Arefin Siddique to press home their demands at around 11:30am on Tuesday.

Later, the students gathered in front of Oparajeyo Bangla and declared to hold a mass rally on the Central Shaheed Minar premises on October 25 if their demands are not met by October 24.

Meanwhile, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad)-backed Bangladesh Chhatra League students and leaders brought out a protest procession in support of the students in the morning.

On October 13, the university decided that students will not be allowed to take admission chance twice, such as only those who pass HSC next year will be able to take the DU admission tests under the 2015-16 academic sessions and those who have passed before cannot.

This triggered anger among students who have failed to qualify for getting admitted into the university this year, prompting hundreds of them to stage demonstrations on the university campus.
