The death toll in the Natore road accident has climbed to 32.
Natore Deputy Commissioner Mashiur Rahman endorsed the information to the Dhaka Tribune.
The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
At least 22 peoples were killed after two passenger buses collided head-on at Rajapur intersection under Boraigram upazila of Natore on Monday afternoon.
Two people succumbed to their injuries after they were admitted to Patwari General Hospital, Dr AB Siddique Patwari of the hospital told the Dhaka Tribune.
Three were shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in critical condition, he added.
Later, death toll climbed to 29 as more five people succumbed to their injuries at Natore Sadar Hospital.
Two people succumbed to their injuries at nearby private hospitals near Banpara highway and one more died among six injured who were admitted to the Rajshahi Medical Collage Hospital around 8:45pm.
Fuwad Ruhani, officer-in-charge of Banpara highway police station and Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Baraigram police station said a Natore-bound bus of Keya Paribahan from Dhaka collided head-on with a Gurudaspur-bound local bus of Othoi Paribahan at around 3:30pm.
"After the collision, the inter-city bus fell into a roadside ditch while the local bus was totally smashed, leaving 22 people dead on the spot and several others injured. The injured were admitted to three local clinics."
Assistant Police Super of Natore district Munshi Sahabuddin earlier said the police have recovered 20 bodies from the spot.
Some 20 injured have been taken to different hospitals, he said, adding that the death toll could rise further as many of the injured were in critical condition.
The vehicular movement on the road was halted for three hours following the accident.
Later, the traffic movement became normal at around 6:30pm.
Meanwhile, a three-member probe body, headed by additional district magistrate Mohammad Ali of Natore, has been formed to look into the fatal accident.
Two other members are assistant police super of Natore (Circle) and the assistant director of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
The committee was asked to place the probe report within three working days, Natore Deputy Commissioner Mashiur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expressed profound shock at the losses of lives in the road accident.
Also directed authorities concerned to take necessary measures to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
