The Health Ministry has imposed a ban on the entry of Africans in the country through Akhaura land port in a move to prevent the spread of Ebola virus.
The land port authority imposed the ban as per the ministry's order issued on Sunday afternoon.
Akhaura land port Inspector (Tax) Lutfur Rahman said the Health Ministry and departments concern have sent us several letters regarding the prevention of Ebola virus.
Port's Immigration Officer Mohammad Bachhu Mia said: “We have issued an alert soon after getting the order. We have totally banned the entry of Africans.”
“A medical team has started working in the immigration office at the check-post for the testing of Ebola virus,” said Akhaura Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Mohammad Shah Alam.
