A college professor has been killed in a road accident in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong.
Deceased Joynul Abedin, 60, was a professor of Bijoy Smarani Degree College of Bhatiary in Sitakunda.
Sub-inspector Kamal Uddin of Sitakunda police station said a Chittagong-bound stone laden truck ran over the professor while he was waiting for transport beside Edulpara Bypass Road around 9:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.
The body was handed over to the family members without autopsy after completing all the legislative processes, said the SI.
He added that police took the killer truck under its custody.
A case was lodged in this connection while the truck driver and its assistant managed to flee after the incident.
