A member of Border Guard Bangladesh was injured in a gunfight with a gang of criminals in the Naf River near Damdamia BGB check post at Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday night.
Lieutenant Colonel Farid, sector commander of Cox’s Bazar BGB, said a patrol team of Teknaf BGB Battalion-42 went to the river as they had secret information about yaba smuggling. The gang members started firing sensing the presence of the BGB men and the border guards also fired at least 25 rounds of gunshots in retaliation, said UNB sources.
