Police, in a drive, have rescued 26 Bangladeshis from Khuniapalong under Ramu upazila in Cox's Bazar, while they were being trafficked to Malaysia through the marine route.
The trafficking victims hailed from Jessore, Narail, Kishoreganj and Bogra districts.
Ramu police station Officer-in-Charge Saikul Ahmed Bhuiyan said: “Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive at Goaliapalong and rescued them around 1:45am on Thursday.”
He said: “Sensing our presence, the traffickers fled the scene.”
The rescued people were taken to the police station, he added.
