Vivacious and down to earth Sanjida Preeti linked up with Shahiduzzaman Selim and Tania Ahmed in a television play titled Kagojer Kobi.
In the play Preeti portrays a character of a girl who overwhelmingly falls for a poet, played by Selim. Meanwhile, Selim and his wife, played by Tania Ahmed, stumbles on seperation as the “acquainatce” between Selim and Preeti advances.
Directed by Amitabh Ahmed Rana, the drama has wrapped-up it’s shooting, and will be aired on a television channel shortly.
Recently, Dhaka Tribune caught up with the talented actor about her TV ventures and many more. Preeti is reluctant to talk about her television works as she feels she has “nothing to say about her recent TV endeavours.”
Subsequently, the actor was asked is she feels that the present television works descend from the previous standards
She thinks the descent and the ascent of standard simultaniously exists as the technicality has improved, but the screenplay and storybuilding has downgraded. “Sometimes a good script can not be executed because of budget constraints,” she adds.
So many things are involved in a television production that its nearly impossible for a single guardian angel to fix everything.
Preeti is also quite prominet in theatres and she is taking part in the rehearsal of her troupe Prachyanaut with upcoming productions titled “Tragedy Polashbari.” Though her performing in theatre is not finalised yet, she reckons audience will see her in couple of stage works shortly.
Currently, a serial titled “Progga Poromita” is being aired on ATN Bangla in which she portrays a character of a girl whose spirituality works with her inertly, and she is benevolent to her surroundings. Interestingly, she has a supernatural power of writing other people’s fate. She has played such off-beat characters before. About these out-of-the-box portrayals, she remarks that good characters with strong scripts come to her often, but later “something happens” and the outputs, sometimes, disappoint her.
What she usually looks for in roles is the standard of the script, her character, and above all, how significant her role is in the context of the whole story regardless of weather the role owns only two scenes or twenty.
Actors sometime speak about how tough it is to leave certain roles behind after they’ve played them. About her she experience of switching characters, she says “It is a challenge. Sometimes it is very difficult to adjust myself from one set to another within one single day. I think every actor needs therapist about the matter.”
Preeti expressed her eager interest to act in films, and in such roles she thinks will suit her. Currently the actor is working in a film titled “Run,” dircted by Afsana Mimi; after the project she will think about working in others.
