A solo exhibition “Known Unknown” by Farzana Ahmed Urmi is going to be inaugurated today at Dhaka Art Center. Curated by Wakilur Rahmn and Kehkasha Sabah, the exhibition will remain open until October 23.
Farzana Ahmed Urmi explores the idea of perception in works. She strives to combine conscious vision and the fleeting perception of a blink in one image. Her paintings exhibit fascination with awkwardness and search for a distinct aesthetic from conventional visual arts.
Her courage in using elective gestures lends her figures their eerie and powerful presence. The portraitures are unnerving naked images of agony, anger, soreness, revenge, or similar expressive emotions as she embraces the known and unknown faces of this urban society. She is an artiste striving to create her own artistic identity and distinguish is with visually penetrating psychological tensions and compositional arrangements.
While holding a postgraduate degree on printmaking, Farzana is quite spontaneous in choosing any technique.
